Kenya AIDS NGOs Consotium (KANCO)

ACTION is an International Partnership of Civil Society Advocates

ACTION’s mission is to build support for increased resources for effective TB control, especially among key policymakers and other opinion leaders in both high TB burden countries and donor countries.  With effective policy advocacy and greater political will, rapid progress can be made against the global TB epidemic.

KANCO

Background: KANCO is a premier national membership network of NGOs,  community-based organizations (CBOs) and faith-based organizations (FBOs) involved in or that have interest in HIV & AIDS and TB activities in Kenya.

Mission: To provide leadership, promote collaboration and enhance capacity among CSOs and other stakeholders to respond to HIV & AIDS and TB at the community level.

KANCO has been instrumental in working towards ACTION’s goals.

  1. KANCO played an essential role in the success of Kenya’s Global Fund for AIDS, TB and Malaria Round 9 Proposal.  The Global Fund approved Kenya’s TB proposal for a potential $50.6 million over 5 years.
  2. KANCO works with local TB patients within Kenya to empower them to strong advocates in the fight against tuberculosis.  They have supported the registration of the first TB patient group in Kenya, TB Pamoja Group, under the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Services.
  3. KANCO has been key in supporting the launch of the Stop TB Partnership Kenya in later on this month.
