Senior Associate for Campaigns and Advocacy, ACTION Secretariat:

The Senior Associate for Campaigns and Advocacy at the ACTION Secretariat in Washington DC will support the ACTION director to achieve ACTION's growing international global health advocacy. This person will work with the ACTION director and deputy director to promote an integrated, evidence-based, collaborative approach to our advocacy goals. The ideal candidate will make full use of research, policy analysis, coalition-building, communications, and organizational partner expertise to achieve our strategic policy and resource mobilization goals.

The Senior Associate for Campaigns and Advocacy will have a keen understanding of how to influence political structures and decision makers. We require someone who is an excellent communicator and skilled spokesperson committed to honing negotiation and influencing skills and supporting our Secretariat team and partners to do so as well. As this role will cut across and support the portfolios of several others, it will require an ability to work effectively with other senior managers, and a commitment to building and working collaboratively with the international and Secretariat team to raise the profile and effectiveness of our shared work.

The Senior Associate for Campaigns and Advocacy will connect with key external allies and represent ACTION as needed, including some international travel. This role will strengthen ACTION's work as a learning partnership and invest in creative tools for research and advocacy that will amplify the engagement of our partners, elevate the level of our campaigning, and achieve our measurable targets.

The ideal candidate will have experience in developing and leading complex multi-country advocacy strategies and will put high value on multi-stakeholder work. The ideal candidate will also have experience with rights-based approaches or an understanding of the human rights and justice elements of effective development, as well as an understanding of international institutions and processes, development issues, and debates.

The candidate should have a relevant degree/s or equivalent experience and several years of demonstrable experience in designing, leading, and winning campaigns. International campaigning experience or an understanding of other advocacy contexts, as well as experience with or openness to mass communications, digital activism or other social marketing tools, will make a candidate stand out.
The ability to think and operate strategically in a fast changing campaigning environment is critical to performing this role. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a non-negotiable and the ability to work fluently in other languages is a plus.

All candidates must be committed to working virtually but legally able to be based in our Washington DC Secretariat office.
